Liam Payne’s Friend Accused Of Abandoning Him Before His Death, Prosecutors Explain Why
Buenos Aires prosecutors accuse Roger Nores, a close friend of Liam Payne, of abandoning him despite knowing Liam Payne had relapsed, according to TMZ.
However, a judge ruled the national prosecutors lacked jurisdiction, stating only local prosecutors could handle such a case. No charges have been filed, and an appeal by the national prosecutors was denied.
Liam Payne and Roger traveled to Argentina together, but Liam stayed alone at the CasaSur Hotel. Liam’s father told authorities that Roger had agreed to oversee his care in May 2024, ensuring he went to rehab and wasn’t left alone. Concerns grew in September when Liam fired a bodyguard trying to stop him from using drugs.
Prosecutors claim Roger knew Liam was struggling. The night before Liam’s death, he allegedly ordered nine bottles of whiskey and sent texts to Roger referencing drugs and hiring escorts. The next morning, two women visited the singer’s room and later told police he became angry over payment and damaged a TV.
Roger reportedly joined Liam for breakfast that day, where Liam drank whiskey. A maid later described Liam searching the room frantically before finding a powder. Roger says he checked on Liam three times and insists he seemed fine before leaving the hotel an hour prior to Liam’s fatal fall.
