‘Star’ Actress Jude Demorest Opens Up About Being Typecast After The Show & People Believing She’s Her Character
Jude Demorest, who played Star Davis in Lee Daniels’ hit TV series Star, is opening up about her struggle to land diverse acting roles since the show ended, as well as how people still associate her with her character.
In a TikTok video, the actress revealed that she has struggled to book roles outside of the “foster care to riches” persona she portrayed on the show, claiming her agents have been sending her offers for roles like a “stripper” or a “mom on welfare.”

Jude also expressed frustration about people thinking she’s like her character, Star. She clarified that she is much different than the fictional persona, revealing that she enjoys watching “Christian podcasts” and “cooking videos” and has no interest in joining shows like Bad Girls Club, despite fans’ repeated requests.
Jude starred in Star for three seasons, from 2016 to 2019, and fans continue to hold out hope that Lee Daniels will fulfill his promise to create a movie based on the show.
