Donald Trump Scheduled To Be Sentenced On Jan. 10 In Hush Money Case, No Jail Time Expected
The judge in President-elect Donald Trump’s hush money case denied his request to dismiss the verdict and set sentencing for January 10, ten days before his inauguration. Judge Juan Merchan stated Donald Trump could appear in person or virtually and ruled out jail time, indicating an unconditional discharge as the likely sentence.
Merchan upheld the conviction of falsifying business records, citing Donald Trump’s intent to defraud and conceal a conspiracy during the 2016 election. He rejected arguments for dismissal, emphasizing the importance of upholding the Rule of Law.
Trump’s team called the case unconstitutional and vowed to fight it. The DA’s office declined to comment.
