Shannon Sharpe Blasts NBA Star Zion Williamson For Missing 27 Games & Getting Suspended For Being Late: ‘It Is Embarrassing’
Shannon Sharpe had harsh words for NBA star Zion Williamson following news of his recent suspension.
During an episode of Stephen A. Smith’s ESPN show First Take, Sharpe strongly criticized the New Orleans Pelicans player for missing 27 NBA games this season, only playing 8, due to a hamstring strain.
Zion made his return on January 7th, playing a stellar first game with 22 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists. However, he was suspended shortly after for violating team policies.
While Smith accused Zion of “stealing money,” claiming the 24-year-old lacks professionalism because he seemingly wants out of New Orleans, Sharpe added:
“Stephen A., you mentioned Zion needs a change of scenery. No, he needs a change of eatery. Stop eating everything you see, bro. That’s embarrassing. It is embarrassing that we still having this conversation. “

He continued:
“You’ve missed half of the time that you’ve been in the NBA and you think that’s ok?… The problem is, guys like Stephen A. Smith, Charles Barkley, Shaq, and others care more about Zion’s career than Zion does.”
Pelicans head coach Willie Green explained that the suspension was due to multiple incidents, with the most recent being Zion arriving late and missing a team flight.
Zion has since issued an apology, taking full responsibility for the suspension and expressing his commitment to improving as a teammate and professional.
