Damon Wayans Reveals He Didn’t Meet Son Damon Wayans Jr. Until He Was 5 Weeks Old: ‘I Was Too Young To Have A Child’
Damon Wayans is opening up about the early days of fatherhood and how he didn’t meet his son, Damon Wayans Jr., until he was five weeks old.
In an interview with PEOPLE, Damon shared,
“I sent his mom to Vermont to live with her mother. I was too young to have a child.”
He continued,
“I didn’t meet Jr. until he was like five weeks old.”

Damon recalled the emotional moment when he first met his son. Arriving in Vermont, he heard Jr. crying, and as soon as he picked him up, the baby stopped. He said,
“I realized, I gotta be a man for this guy.”
42 years later, the father-son duo is now starring together in the CBS sitcom “Poppas House.”
