UPDATE: Indiana Fever Cooperating w/ WNBA Probe After Fans Allegedly Directed Racial Comments At Angel Reese During Season Opener + Caitlyn Clark Admits She Didn’t Hear Offensive Remarks
Update: The Indiana Fever are cooperating with the WNBA’s investigation into alleged hateful remarks made by fans during their 93-58 season-opening win over the Chicago Sky, head coach Stephanie White confirmed Monday.
The league released a statement condemning “racism, hate and discrimination in all forms,” affirming that such conduct “has no place in our league or in society.” According to IndyStar, the probe centers on alleged racial comments directed at Sky forward Angel Reese.
“There’s no place for that in our game, there’s no place for that in society,” Caitlin Clark said.
While she said she didn’t personally hear any comments due to the loud noise, she added, “That doesn’t mean nothing happened.”
Fever forward Brianna Turner echoed support for the probe: “One person is too many. If someone thinks they heard something, I think it’s warranted to investigate.”

Original Story: Angel Reese was reportedly the target of hateful and racist comments during the Chicago Sky’s game against the Indiana Fever on Saturday (May 17).
The incident took place at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, where Reese and Fever star Caitlin Clark clashed in the third quarter. Clark was called for a flagrant 1 foul after slapping Reese’s arm while going for the ball. Reese and Fever forward Aliyah Boston both received technical fouls as tensions rose on the court.
While Reese was at the free-throw line, she was booed by fans throughout the game. According to IndyStar, some of the boos included racist remarks, which the WNBA is now investigating.
