Will Smith Opens Up About Turning Down ‘Inception’ Role That Went To Leonardo DiCaprio, Says He ‘Didn’t Get’ The Plot
Will Smith revealed he passed on the lead role in Christopher Nolan’s 2010 film because he didn’t really understand the script.
In a recent interview with Kiss Xtra, the actor said, “Chris Nolan brought me Inception first, and I didn’t get it. I’ve never said that out loud.”

He added:
“Now that I think about it, it’s those movies that go into those alternate realities… they don’t pitch well.”
Smith also admitted feeling some regret about turning down both Inception and The Matrix:
“I am hurt by [passing on] those two.”
Inception stars Leonardo DiCaprio and grossed nearly a billion dollars at the box office.
