Lizzo’s Team Slams ‘Meritless’ Discrimination Lawsuit From Ex-Wardrobe Assistant, Asks Judge To Dismiss It

Lizzo is asking the court to toss out a discrimination lawsuit filed by her former wardrobe assistant, calling it “meritless” and filled with “absurd allegations.”

In new court documents filed July 18, the singer’s attorney, Martin Singer, went in on plaintiff Asha Daniels, calling her a “brazen liar” with “an inflated ego” and “an unquenchable thirst for free publicity.” He added that Daniels is “not a victim of discrimination or harassment,” but rather a “disgruntled” former employee acting on “personal vendettas.”

The filing states that Lizzo’s company, Big Grrrl Big Touring Inc., fired Daniels because she was “inexperienced,” “failed to comply with safety regulations,” and “did not want to continue with the Tour.” The team added, “She offers no specific information to support her claims or a single witness or document to corroborate her absurd allegations.”

Daniels originally filed the suit in September 2023, accusing Lizzo’s team of racism, fat-phobia, and denying her medical care during the European leg of the Special Tour.

This is Lizzo’s second attempt to get the case dismissed. A judge previously ruled in December 2024 that Daniels couldn’t sue Lizzo directly, leaving only the company as the defendant. If the latest motion is denied, the case is expected to go to trial later this year.
