Cynthia Bailey is giving fans a first look at her “powerful” new role in the upcoming short film Diamond. ?
The actress and Real Housewives of Atlanta star took to social media to share a series of behind-the-scenes photos from the set, showing her in character with a bruised, emotionally raw appearance. She also posted snaps with her fellow cast and crew, offering fans a glimpse into the making of the project.
In her caption, Cynthia opened up about why this role means so much to her, writing: “I prayed for an acting role where I can go dark, deep & be vulnerable. My role as LaTonya has so many layers as a mother, wife & a heroin addict.”

The film centers on Diamond McCarren, a 17-year-old basketball prodigy who’s determined to break free from a life of generational trauma. With his father in prison and his mother (played by Bailey) battling a drug addiction, Diamond carries the burden of his fractured home life while chasing the dream of a Division I college basketball scholarship.
In a statement to Deadline, Cynthia said the role deeply resonated with her, sharing: “This story really touched me. It shows how families can stay together through anything. I wanted to take on something meaningful, and when I read this script, I knew this was it.”
