Snoop Dogg & Ice Cube Accused Of Dodging Deposition & Refusing To Return $1.3 Million Advance After Backing Out OfTour
Rap legends #SnoopDogg and #IceCube are facing legal friction after seeking to block a deposition in a six-figure lawsuit.
According to Us Weekly, the pair “filed legal documents in August asking a judge to block their scheduled depositions… calling the company’s deposition request ‘harassing, oppressive, and burdensome,’” as their lawyers asserted the two artists don’t have anything “substantive” to add.
The origin of the dispute stems from a contract between the supergroup Mt. Westmore (which includes Snoop, Cube, #TooShort, and #E40) and merchandise company Westside Merchandising LLC. Westside alleges that it advanced about $1.375 million to the rappers for a 60-date tour across America and Europe, where merchandise would be sold to fans. The rappers allegedly bailed on the tour after performing only three shows in 2022. Snoop and Cube, defined as the “key men under the [agreement],” also allegedly agreed to create “a promotional video to be posted on [Mount Westmore’s] social media accounts.” However, that didn’t happen either.
Westside is now pursuing legal action for fraud, claiming the deal’s collapse left them with unrecovered funds and unmet contractual obligations. In response, the defense for Snoop, Cube, and the other members of Mt. Westmore have insisted their business was always conducted “in good faith and with integrity,” calling the opposition’s claims “entirely baseless and without merit.”
