A Missouri woman and her boyfriend were taken into custody after authorities say they repeatedly abu$ed her children, at times confining them in a chicken pen and shooting at them with BB guns, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies arrested 38-year-old Chantel Spring Hayford and her boyfriend, Jerry Allen Menees, on Jan. 13 after searching their home and charging both with multiple felony counts, including kidnapping and endangering the welfare of a child. Prosecutors say the boys, ages 13 and 14, were unlawfully held “for the purpose of terrorizing” them.
Court records allege the mistreatment was part of a broader pattern of abu$e dating back to early 2023, including incidents described as “fight nights” between the siblings and what prosecutors characterized as “inappropriate s3xual contact involving one of the children.” One boy claimed Menees pointed a pistol at them and threatened to “bl*w his brains out,” while another alleged the couple gave him alcohol and made him eat a marijuana?laced brownie when he was 11 or 12. Hayford and Menees are scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 20.
