Claims Network Helped Divert $340 Million In Alleged Financial Fraud Scheme
Retired boxing champion Floyd Mayweather is taking a legal swing at Showtime, alleging the network helped facilitate massive financial losses during his career.
According to a lawsuit filed in California, Mayweather is seeking to “recover hundreds of millions of dollars in the misappropriated funds and damages resulting from a long-running and elaborate scheme of financial fraud,” which he claims was carried out by longtime advisor Al Haymon with “substantial participation and aid” from Showtime and former executive Stephen Espinoza. Haymon is not listed as a defendant.
Mayweather alleges $340 million is still “‘missing’ and unaccounted for,” tied to bouts including fights against Manny Pacquiao and Conor McGregor.
His attorney, Bobby Samini, said, “Floyd is one of boxing’s biggest pay-per-view draws… Mr. Mayweather now takes this fight to the courtroom to recover what he rightfully earned.”
