50 Cent Says New York Hip-Hop Is “Turning Into a Podcast”

50 Cent has thoughts about the podcast explosion — and he’s not sugarcoating a thing.

In a new interview with Rolling Stone, the rap mogul bluntly declared that New York City’s hip-hop scene is being swallowed by podcast culture, arguing that artists are now talking so much that there’s no mystery left. “New York City is turning into a podcast,” he said. “The whole f*ing New York hip-hop is turning into a podcast.”

Fifti went on to explain how the constant mic time is changing the media ecosystem altogether. “So there ain’t going to be nobody for them to interview because they’re all podcasters,” he added, suggesting that overexposure could dull demand for traditional interviews.

The comments arrive as podcasts continue to dominate hip-hop media, with rappers, producers, and executives increasingly launching their own platforms to control narratives, monetize conversations, and speak directly to fans.

But while many artists see podcasts as empowerment, 50 appears to be warning that too much access can backfire, potentially stripping artists of intrigue and making press moments feel redundant.

Whether fans agree or not, one thing’s clear: 50 Cent isn’t just watching the podcast boom — he’s questioning whether hip-hop is talking itself into exhaustion.
