Former EVEN Labs Director Damien “DDOT” Washington Files Federal Lawsuit – Alleges Racial Bias, Retaliation & 70-Hour Workweeks
A former executive at EVEN Labs Inc. is suing the company and its CEO, Enrique ‘Mag’ Rodriguez, alleging racial discrimination, retaliation, wage violations and wrongful termination.
Damien “DDOT” Washington, who served as Director of Business Development, filed a federal lawsuit in NYC claiming he was misclassified as an independent contractor while working full-time (70+ hour weeks), denied overtime and benefits, and retaliated against after raising concerns about company practices.
The lawsuit also references a dispute involving music from Stove God Cooks and rights holder Babygrande Global, Inc., with Washington alleging he internally warned leadership about potential legal issues before being sidelined.
He further claims he was denied a promotion in favor of someone of a different race and gender, excluded from press credits and partnerships he secured, and ultimately terminated in September 2025. He’s seeking back pay, damages and a jury trial.
The timing is notable — especially as artists like J. Cole, 21 Savage and Brent Faiyaz have recently partnered with the platform.
EVEN and Rodriguez have not publicly responded to the allegations.
