33-Year-Old Woman Passes Away After Flight Crew Allegedly Forgot To Plug Oxygen Mask Into Tank Amid Medical Emergency

A 33-year-old woman is at the center of a wrongful de@th lawsuit after suffering a medical emergency mid-flight that allegedly turned fatal due to crew error. According to the complaint obtained by PEOPLE, Porscha Tynisha Brown, a U.S. Department of Defense employee, was traveling from Virginia to #Seoul with friends when she began feeling unwell about 12 hours into the flight. Moments later, she was found in the aisle “clutching her chest” and saying, “I can’t breathe,” prompting the crew to call for medically trained passengers onboard.

The lawsuit claims flight attendants provided Brown with an oxygen mask, but her condition did not improve. “Shortly thereafter, Ms. Brown lost consciousness and became nonresponsive,” the complaint states. It further alleges that while an automated external defibrillator (AED) was brought out, crew members “neither attempted nor offered to assist” passengers in using it, as others tried to step in and help. The situation grew more chaotic, with the lawsuit claiming staff “alternated between panicking, observing and taking notes” instead of taking decisive action.

The plane was eventually diverted to Osaka, #Japan, where Brown was taken to a hospital and pronounced de@d. It wasn’t until after landing, according to the complaint, that her friend realized “Korean Air personnel had never plugged the oxygen mask into the oxygen tank.” Her estate is now suing the airline, arguing that she “would have in all likelihood survived” if the emergency had been handled properly and in a timely manner.

The lawsuit is seeking damages for wrongful de@th, lost earnings, and emotional suffering, while also emphasizing the airline’s duty to protect passengers during in-flight emergencies.
