Lil Durk Trial Judge Calls Out Prosecutors For Adding Chicago Gang Charges After Having ‘Over A Year To Build Their Case

Lil Durk’s m*rder-for-hire case is moving forward next month after a judge rejected prosecutors’ attempt to delay the trial.

During a July 14 hearing, Judge Michael W. Fitzgerald ruled that the Chicago rapper, born Durk Banks, will face a Los Angeles jury on August 20. Prosecutors added VICAR charges tied to gang activity involving Durk’s Only the Family crew.

Lead prosecutor Ian Yanniello argued the 2022 att*ck on Quando Rondo was “done on behalf of a gang.” However, Fitzgerald suggested the new counts were a “no doubt clever” strategy to strengthen the government’s case with allegations.

You think you will have a better chance to win if the Chicago count is tried with the Los Angeles m*rder. That’s obvious,” the judge said. “You treat that as a feature. I treat that as a bug.

Fitzgerald added, “You chose not to do that,” noting prosecutors had “over a year” to introduce the claims.

Durk denies ordering Rondo’s k*lling. His lawyers called the indictment “lipstick on a pig” and “an acknowledgment of weakness.”

Attorney Drew Findling praised the ruling, saying, “We so appreciate the thoroughness that took place in that courtroom today.”

Do you think Durk could be acquitted?
