[Photos] No Loved Lost: Kelly Price Does Casting For Her New Reality Show, ‘Too Fat for Fame’
With one reality TV show under her belt, singer Kelly Price of TV One’s ‘R&B Divas‘ has officially caught the acting bug. Earlier this summer, she shared with theJasmineBRAND.com exclusively that she was already working on her very own reality TV show called, ‘Too Fat for Fame‘.
She explained:
For me to have a story of one who was nearly denied a successful career because I was too big…it’s time for me to pay it forward. Being an overweight girl, I am a worker. I’ve worked for everything it is that I have. So if there is anyone out there who is serious about having a career as a singer, as a model, as a dancer, as an actor, as an actress, as a personality in this industry…if they’re willing to work for it and they’ve had doors closed because they’re overweight, then this is the opportunity for them to have an opportunity.
She continued:
You don’t know what reality TV is until you do it…and now I know what reality TV is! I’m not turned off by it. I have actually had an animal awakened in me, and so with that I am going to pursue it in a manner that only Kelly Price can. And that for me coming off of the ‘R&B Divas’ experience is to pursue reality TV with a Kelly Price twist and that would be ‘Too Fat For Fame.’
And a day after the finale for the TV One show, Kelly held casting auditions in Los Angeles. According to the site, here’s the description of those auditioning:
LOOKING FOR MALE AND FEMALE. General screening for casting of the show will be by video submission ONLY. We are casting ALL PLUS SIZED TALENT. Video submissions should include a short performance of whatever your talent is (singing, dancing, playing an instrument, monologues/acting, modeling) and a brief videotaped (pre-screening) statement from you explaining your struggle with weight, image and how you feel its kept you from breaking into the industry. Models should include photos AND a video.
A few familiar faces and celebrity judges participated in the auditions including: Faith Evans (co-creator R&B Divas), Sheryl Lee Ralph (actress), Luenell (comedian) and Laurieann Gibson (choreographer). To date, there’s been no confirmation as to if the show’s been picked up by a network and when viewers can expect for the show to hit TV.
