Bill Cosby Fiasco Heightens: College Cuts Ties, More Cancelled Appearances & Messy Allegations
It’s not looking much better for Bill Cosby. While the 77-year-old comedian continues to be accused of sexual assault by at least 13 women to date and some universities have began to distance themselves. His scheduled appearance at Freed-Hardeman University in Henderson, Tennessee has been canceled. Cosby scheduled appearance at a benefit dinner has been axed amid allegations made by several women accusing the comedian of sexual assault.
Freed-Hardeman President Joe Wiley says the university knows that “names we have seen in the media represent real people who will be affected long after FHU’s dinner has passed.”
And unfortunately for Mr. Cosby — that’s not it. The University of Massachusetts-Amherst has ended their relationship Cosby, who is an alumnus.
According to the Boston Globe, this week, he was asked by university officials to step down as an honorary co-chairman of their $300 million fundraising campaign and Cosby agreed. [FYI: He received a master’s degree and a doctorate in education from the university. He and his wife donated several hundred thousand dollars to the university.]
