(EXCLUSIVE) Frank Ocean’s Dad Returns to Court, Fights Russell Simmons in $142 Million Lawsuit
The saga continues. theJasmineBRAND.com exclusively reports Frank Ocean’s father (Clavin Edward Cooksey) isn’t done fighting his $142 million dollar legal battle against Russell Simmons for allegedly defaming his good name by labeling him a deadbeat dad and has headed back to court demanding his lawsuit be allowed to continue.
Cooksey filed suit earlier this year against Simmons and his website Global Grind for portraying him as a horrible father, when in reality he said Frank’s “Money Grubbing mother” was the reason he hadn’t seen his son since he was 5. He filed suit for damages explaining he has lost future income as a result of the articles on Simmons’ site.
Ocean’s father also filed docs in the case explaining he is so financial unstable that he can’t afford to pay the court costs for filing the lawsuit.
Cooksey explained to the court that he couldn’t afford to pay the costs to file the lawsuit and asked them to waive the fees since since he is unemployed and cannot even remember the last time he had a job. He explains that he lives off social security disability income of $789.66 a month.
