Gospel Legend Andrae Crouch Dies at 72

Very sad news for the gospel music community. Legendary gospel artist Andrae Crouch has died.

Crouch’s publicist (Brian Mayes) confirmed that he passed Thursday afternoon at Northridge Hospital Medical Center, where he had been admitted Saturday after suffering a heart attack.

Referred to as “the father of modern gospel music” by contemporary Christian and gospel music professionals, Crouch was known for his compositions, The Blood Will Never Lose Its Power, My Tribute (To God Be the Glory) and Soon and Very Soon. In the 1980s, he made contributions in secular music for leading choirs that sang on the Michael Jackson’s Man in the Mirror as well as Madonna’s Like a Prayer.
