Robin Thicke & Pharrell Williams Lose ‘Blurred Lines’ Lawsuit: Award Marvin Gaye’s Children 7.4 Million
Robin Thicke and Pharrell Williams have officially taken a legal L. On Tuesday, a federal jury found that their 2013 hit song “Blurred Lines” infringed on the Marvin Gaye chart-topper “Got to Give It Up“. What’s the damage? Gaye’s children were awarded nearly $7.4 million.
While the record company and rapper T.I. (who was featured on the track) were not affected, jurors found issue with singer/songwriters Pharrell and Robin.
Jurors began deliberating last Thursday, while they focused on the similarities between the song and the legendary soul singer’s 1977 hit.
