Teyana Taylor Snags Recurring Role In ‘The Breaks’
She’s booked. Fresh off of starring in Kanye West’s new video, Fade, Teyana Taylor has snagged a recurring role in Vh1’s, The Breaks. According to a new report, Taylor will recur as a rapper discovered by Nikki (Afton Williamson), who is one of the first artists signed to the label that Barry Fouray (Wood Harris) is launching. The Breaks is a hip-hop drama film that chronicles the life of three friends during the early 1990s hip-hop scene.
The film stars Wood Harris, Mack Wilds, Afton Williamson, David Call and rapper Method Man. Inspired by journalist Dan Charnas’ book “The Big Payback”, The Breaks was written and directed by Seith Mann and executive produced by Mann, Charnas, and Maggie Malina, along with Susan Levison and Bill Flanagan. The Breaks premiered on VH1 on January 4, 2016. On February 16, 2016, VH1 picked up The Breaks to become a full television series.
Teyana’s credits include “Brotherly Love,” “Madea’s Big Happy Family” and MTV’s “America’s Best Dance Crew: All Stars”. She joins a cast that includes: Afton Willamson (HBO’s “The Night Of…”), Wood Harris (“The Wire”), Mack Wilds (“90210”),Antoine Harris (“Ballers”), David Call (“The Magicians”) and Evan Handler (“Sex and the City”), Melonie Diaz (“Fruitvale Station”),Sinqua Walls (“Power”) and Ali Ahn (“Billions”). Mann, Charnas, Strauss, Bill Flanagan and Darren Goldberg are executive producers on “The Breaks.” Maggie Malina, Chris McCarthy and Amy Doyle will serve as executive producers for VH1.
Taylor has also booked stints on VH1 game show Hip Hop Squares. Congrats to her!
