Alfred Enoch Reacts To Being Killed Off On “How To Get Away With Murder”
Alfred Enoch Reacts To Being Killed Off On HTGAWM
Wes, played by Alfred Enoch, is dead. If you watched the midseason finale of “How to Get Away With Murder,” which aired on Thursday, Nov. 17, then you witnessed one of the show’s favorite characters be killed off. In a new interview, Alfred admits that he’s known that he’d be killed off for close to two months.
Pete [Nowalk] told me around the seventh episode, so about a month and a half ago. I got a call from his assistant being like, “Hey can you come and talk to Pete?” And I was like, “This is it.” We were all in this state of uncertainty and nervous excitement. We were all anxious to find out. He told me and I went back and told everyone else — I told Pete that I’ve got to tell everyone else and he was like, “Of course you do.” We had time to let the shock set in.
He admits that he wasn’t completely sure that he’d be killed off, but knew that it was a possibility.
In the couple of days leading up to it, I thought it could be Wes. Wes would be a good person to kill because it would be surprising, but also opens up the stories in many ways and affects so many characters. So I had kind of thought it could be him, but then Aja [Naomi King] gave me a bunch of reasons why it couldn’t be Wes and she steered me away.
Wes will return in the back-half of next season, since the big mystery will be all about who killed Wes.
I don’t know. I just know I’m going to be in it. How exactly that will pan out and how much of the story is onward from the night of the fire and how much is backward from what happened that night is episode-to-episode. With each script, I’m just surprised episode-to-episode with what happens.
How to Get Away with Murder premiered on ABC on September 25, 2014. The series was created by Peter Nowalk, and produced by Shonda Rhimes and ABC Studios. The series airs on ABC as part of a night of programming all under Rhimes’s Shondaland production company.
Viola Davis stars as Annalise Keating, a law professor at a prestigious Philadelphia university who, with five of her students, becomes entwined in a murder plot. The show features an ensemble cast with Davis as Annalise Keating, and Alfred Enoch, Jack Falahee, Aja Naomi King, Matt McGorry, and Karla Souza as her students, Charlie Weber and Liza Weil as her employees and Billy Brown as a police detective and Annalise’s lover.
