(EXCLUSIVE) Run-DMC Photog Claims Live Nation Illegally Profited Off His Work
Photog Claims Live Nation Illegally Profited Off Work
theJasmineBRAND.com exclusively reports, an iconic photographer is furious with Live Nation for illegal profiting off his work with the legendary group Run-DMC and now he has headed to court demanding an injunction against the company and for all profits they made by ripping him off.
Glen Friedman filed suit against Live Nation Merchandise accusing them of illegally using his photograph of Run-DMC.
The photographer explains he took an iconic photo of the band and would later copyright the work.
Around 2007, Live Nation acquired a company named Anthill Trading Ltd. which owned the worldwide exclusive rights to Run-DMC’s merchandise.
Live Nation then created a style guide, which is a book that contains photos of the artists, which helped develop music merchandise.
He says that the company created a “Run-DMC Style Guide” by their in-house designers, who crudely scanned and copied images of the ban from his books including the photograph he is suing over.
Friedman blasts Live Nation saying they knew the photo was copyrighted and despite numerous demands to cease using his work, they have refused to comply.
In doing so, Defendant LIVE NATION intentionally induced and encouraged direct infringement of Plaintiff’s copyrights by its vendors who were using the RUN-DMC STYLE GUIDE to make and distribute garments and merchandise containing unauthorized reproductions of Plaintiff’s Subject Image.
The complaint attaches photos of the infringing merchandise sold by Live Nation and their vendors. The photographer filed suit demanding an injunction against Live Nation and all profits be turned over to him that they profited illegally from by using his iconic photo.
