EXCLUSIVE: Birdman Responds To Allegedly Owing $4 Mill To Jas Prince Over Drake Royalties
Birdman Responds To Allegedly Owing $4 Mill
theJasmineBRAND.com exclusively reports, Birdman is firing back at Jas Prince in the $4 million+ battle over Drake’s royalties. He denies that he owes the producer any money and wants the legal battle be thrown out of court.
Here’s the latest: On June 27th, Birdman, Slim & Cash Money Records fired back at Jas’ legal battle over Drake’s royalties. They deny all allegations of wrongdoing or that they owed Jas from Drake’s profits.
Birdman says the claims against him are barred due to termination or abandonment of the original deal. He says any damages Jas suffered is not a result of his actions, but rather a third party not included in the suit.
The music mogul accuses Jas of consenting to the actions he is now suing for and even claims he was paid a cut of Drake’s royalties via his other company Empire Music Group. Birdman points out that Aspire/Young Money Agreement does not include him. He demanded the case be tossed and Jas not be awarded a dime.
Young Money responded on the same day denying all allegations and seeking to have the suit thrown out. Interesting to note, Lil Wayne’s label filed a separate response from Birdman’s.
Here’s the backstory: Earlier this year, Jas Prince’s Aspire Music Group sued Cash Money,
Young Money, Birdman and his brother Ronald ‘Slim’ Williams.
Aspire explained Birdman and the record labels have continued to cheat them out of royalties owed for discovering Drake and signing with Cash Money/Young Money.
Jas’s company was to manage Drake and receive one-third of his profits. He accused Birdman of screwing him out of his cut and refusing to pay him.
He sued demanding unspecified damages, but explained he was owed over $4 million dollars.
