Young Thug Settles Lawsuit w/ Concert Promoter

theJasmineBRAND.com exclusively reports, Young Thug has settled a $300k legal battle with a concert promoter who accused the rapper of screwing him over by failing to show up to a New York show he was headlining, with the case being dismissed recently following a confidential deal.

Here’s the latest: Recently, concert promoter Nicholas Fitts headed to court and filed docs stating he is dismissing all claims against Thug once and for all, without the option to refile at a later date.  The promoter says having completely and finally compromised and settled the lawsuit with Thug, he is informing the court he is dropping his suit. The case was closed the same day.

Here’s the backstory: Earlier this year, concert promoter Nicholas Fitts sued Thug in Georgia court. Fitts claimed the rapper signed a deal with him back in May 2016, to perform as a featured artist for a concert in Rochester, NY for a fee of $55,000 + transportation, security, sound and lighting equipment, lodging and food/drinks set forth in Thug’s rider.

Thug was to perform on August 13th and was the featured artist for one of the two nights of “Roc Summer Explosion”. He was paid $27,500 as a deposit for the concert. The promoter says he purchased goods and services to prep for the show, including printing, promotion, venue rental, insurance and equipment totaling $57,446.92.

Fitts paid an additional $11,216.88 for security and $33,600 for lighting and sound. However, on the day of the performance Thug failed to appear and the show was canceled.

The promoter said he suffered damages in the amount of $201,620 for lost ticket sales. Despite numerous attempts to reschedule the show, Thug and his team refused, instead he performed at another venue in Rochester in December.  He filed suit seeking in excess of $300k in damages and attorney fees.

Thug responded to the suit, saying he didn’t breach their deal but the plaintiff did. He claims Fitts failed to satisfy conditions of their agreement and there was never a meeting of the minds as to all essential terms of the purported contract.

The rapper blamed the promoter for causing his own damages, adding the person who signed the deal for him was not an authorized agent and did not have the power to sign on his behalf.
