EXCLUSIVE: Sean Kingston – Judge Orders Police Arrest Singer On Sight
Sean Kingston – Judge Orders Police Arrest Singer On Sight
theJasmineBRAND.com exclusively reports, a Florida judge has ordered police to arrest Sean Kingston on sight, due to him blowing off a court hearing over a $344k judgement in the legal battle over an unpaid jewelry bill.
Here’s the latest: Recently, the judge in the case ordered a write of bodily attachment – also known as a warrant for civil arrest in some courts – which directs all police to arrest Kingston on sight and take him into custody for his failure to appear at a hearing to determine if he was in contempt of court on June 7th.
The judge says Kingston is to be held in jail until the court is open and he can be brought to explain himself. The order states the singer can only be released from jail if he posts $40,000 bond.
Here’s the backstory: Florida-based company, Haimov Jewelers, sued the singer accusing him of
screwing them out of $44k by refusing to pay for items they loaned him.
The company said they allowed Kingston to take a Rolex and diamond bracelet from their store, due to his promise he would pay the bill the next day. He never showed up and despite numerous demand he blew off the jeweler.
They sued demanding $44k+ in damages for the unpaid bill. Kingston – famous for blowing off lawsuits – blew off another one and it’s going to cost him.
On January 19th, the judge granted the jewelers motion for a default judgement in the amount of $314,138.22. He stated the rapper was properly served with the legal docs and failed to respond.
The default judgement was higher than the original $44k number due to the judge tacking on retroactive interest to the damages.
Kingston responded in court, demanding the default judgement be vacated and thrown out. He claimed he was never served with the lawsuit, pointing out the process server apparently showed up to a home, one that he does not live at nor has he ever.
Further, Kingston stated that he never knew about the case. He even blames the recent burglary at his Los Angeles home for his failure to respond, saying he had to relocate following the incident and has
been busy. He pleaded for the default judgement to be dismissed.
