Nicki Minaj Brother Convicted In Child Rape Case
Nicki Minaj’s 38-year-old brother Jelani Maraj has been convicted of predatory sexual assault after being charged with repeatedly raping an 11-year-old girl, who was his step-daughter, at his Long Island home. The charges carry the potential for 25 years to life in prison. The girl, who is now 14, testified in court that she was repeatedly assaulted over eight months in 2015 at Maraj’s home.
Prosecutors say DNA evidence supports the allegations. The girl’s younger brother testified that he witnessed one incident. Maraj’s lawyers deny the rape allegations, claiming that girl’s mother (whom Maraj was married to) was trying to extort Nicki Minaj to pay $25 million in hush money.
Neither Maraj nor his rapper sister testified. His lawyers say that he will appeal.
