Tracee Ellis Ross Reacts To ‘Black-ish’ Paycheck Controversy
Tracee Ellis Ross is responding to reports that she demanded a higher salary to continue co-starring on the hit series Black-ish. Releasing a statement on social media, the 45-year-old actress says,
There has been a lot of conversation and speculation the last few days regarding my Black-ish salary. I was in a renegotiation, like many actors find themselves in during the fourth season of a successful show. I wanted to be compensated in a way that matches my contribution to a show that I love for many reasons, including the opportunity it allows me to reshape what it is to be a fully realized black woman on TV.
See her complete statement below.
It was previously reported that Ross was being paid significantly less than her costar Anthony Anderson. Rumor has it, if she wasn’t properly compensated, she was going to appear less on the show.
It’s speculated that Anderson makes significantly more than Ross as he stars in the series, is an executive producer and is said to have helped create the series. He has yet to comment.
