Will Smith Says He Isn’t Responsible For Making Wife Happy
Should your significant other be responsible for your happiness? According to Will Smith, absolutely not.
Will and his wife Jada Pinkett-Smith have been married for 21 years and have two children together.
The couple, who are both Hollywood stars, have spoken publicly about their relationship. Most recently, Will explained that he believes that it should not be a person’s responsibility to fulfill the happiness of another person. He says in a social media video that his wife, Jada, brought this revelation to him. He says,
Whether or not a person is happy is deeply and totally and utterly out of your control.
He also admits that one day he told his wife that he was officially done with trying to make her happy.
I remember the day I retired. I literally said to Jada: That’s it. I retire. I retire from trying to make you happy.

Ab-So-Phuckin-Lutely AGREE 1000%. I had to leave a ‘Relationship’ 5 months ago (for good after All the back-and-forth) due to this Very issue. This Fool I was dating definitely believed it was MY responsibility to make Him happy, and I was subconsciously dumb enough to go along with it ALL THE WHILE consciously and mentally making Myself miserable. Once I consciously came to that conclusion during an argument and finally, verbally communicated that to him, his juvenile azz responses and self-victimization literally made my skin crawl. Relationship OVER!!!????
Applaud this comment 100 times over!! I love it!
Will may not remember this… He & I had this very conversation in his dressing room on the set of “Fresh Prince” (YES I was a guest on the show in 1990 something)
You are NEVER RESPONSIBLE for making anyone happy except YOU!
That Romantic BS “You Complete me” (I’m cringing just typing this crap) is sooo stupid.
You must come to the table, any table with your life involved whole, completely knowing who you are and whose you are. Why would anyone want to be emotionally involved with an INCOMPLETE person?
I am just saying… AGAIN in 2018
Where was the lie in what he said???
1. Some people don’t want to be happy. They love to be miserable, because they like the attention it gets them.
2. Some people don’t want YOU to make them happy. They just aren’t happy around YOU.
3. Some people see your desire to want to make them happy and use it against you as leverage to get what they want.
When you give someone who is constantly feeling sorry for themselves attention, you’re training them to feel sorry for themselves.
The only person you can worry about making happy is YOU. Otherwise, you are going to self destruct eventually.
Yes, Mam ???
