Following the US Open, the U.S. Tennis Association backed Serena’s actions.

President Katrina Adams said in a statement that although Serena was frustrated during the match, how she handled things after the match showed
“a great deal of class and sportsmanship.”

On Tuesday, Adams said that there is definitely a difference between the treatment of male and female players and that a double standard does exist. She said,
“We shouldn’t have to carry that extra weight on our back in anything that we do”.
However, the International Tennis Federation is siding with Ramos, saying that his
“decisions were in accordance with the relevant rules”
Richard Ings, a former top-level umpire, revealed plans that umpires are considering a boycott against Williams.
They are all fearful that they could be the next Ramos. They feel that no one has their back when they have to make unpopular calls.
Serena was fined $17,000 following Saturday’s disagreement with Ramos.
