Tina Turner Confesses Sex With Ike Turner Felt Like Rape

In her new memoir, Tina Turner gives more insight to the twisted marriage between her and her ex-husband and singing partner, Ike Turner. As many may know, Turner was a bold singer in the 1960s who endured persistent physical and emotional abuse from Ike. In her book, with a release date set for October 16th, Tina details her relationship, more specifically, how intercourse with her late ex-husband was a terrible experience.

Sex with Ike had become an expression of hostility — a kind of rape — especially when it began or ended with a beating.

She also outlines how the displeasure for intercourse became more undesirable after Ike began dabbling with cocaine.

What had been ugly and hateful between us before became worse with every snort of cocaine. He threw hot coffee in my face, giving me third-degree burns. He used my nose as a punching bag so many times that I could taste blood running down my throat when I sang. He broke my jaw. And I couldn’t remember what it was like not to have a black eye. The people closest to us saw what was happening, but they couldn’t stop him: any attempt to help me would make him more violent.

While together, Tina and Ike shared one son named Ronald Renelle Turner. She previously had one son with Raymond Hill named, Raymond Craig Turner, and later adopted two of Ike’s children. Tina and Ike called it quits in 1976.
