Kimora Lee Simmons Husband Tim Leissner – Malaysian Attorney General Wants To Put Him In Prison Up To 10 Years Over Billion Dollar Money Laundering Scheme
Although Kimora Lee Simmons‘ husband Tim Leissner accepted a plea deal in November, agreeing to pay back at least $47 million as the result of being nabbed for a billion dollar money laundering scheme, he might have considered himself being off of the hook; but a new filing Monday would consider him not to be. The country Malaysia has filed criminal charges against Goldman Sachs and two former executives, including Leissner and Roger Ng Chong Hwa.
The former execs are being accused of using the money stolen from the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) to allegedly fund the popular movie “Wolf on Wall Street,” high-end properties, jewelry, a yacht, expensive artwork, and a transparent piano for model Miranda Kerr. Attorney General Tommy Thomas says the government is seeking fines worth billions from Goldman Sachs for breaching security laws. Thomas’ office also wants to lock Chong Hwa and Leissner in prison for up to 10 years.
While Kerr and Leonardo di Caprio have cooperated with authorities by returning gifts given to them, Goldman Sachs are denying their involvement within the billion dollar scheme. Edward Naylor, a bank spokesperson says,
We believe these charges are misdirected and we will vigorously defend them and look forward to the opportunity to present our case. The firm continues to cooperate with all authorities investigating these matters.
Thomas also alleges Lessiner and Chong Hwa were aware the money were to be stolen; as they corroborated with Low Taek Jho, a newly labeled fugitive and alleged key player in the 1MDB scheme. Thomas alleges Jho arranged the bond deals, which was organized by subsidiaries of Goldman Sachs.
Leissner previously worked at Goldman Sachs as the head/chairman of their operations in Southeast Asia, but stepped down in 2016. Chong Hwa is currently in custody and awaiting to be transferred to the U.S.
The 1MDB is a Malaysian sovereign wealth fund designed to promote the economic growth of the country.
