Chris Rock Allows White Comedians to Use the N-Word

Social Media Erupts After Footage Resurfaces of Chris Rock Allowing White Comedians to Use the N-Word
The superstars of comedy are usually praised for how controversial they are – but in sensitive times such as these, how far is too far? Chris Rock is in hot water for a clip from a 2011 “Talking Funny” episode. In the clip, white comedians Louis C.K. and Ricky Gervais casually dropped the n-word, and compared the hardships of white people and Black people in an offensive manner. Chris Rock laughed along with Louis and Ricky with no opposition, while Jerry Seinfeld was the only one who brought up its inappropriateness. The conversation read like this:
“Chris Rock (about Louis C.K.): He’s the blackest white guy I f*cking know. In all the negative things we think about black people, this f*cker—”
Louis C.K.: You’re saying I’m a n****r?…We say n****r on stage. You guys don’t.”
Ricky Gervais: Who says ‘n****r?’ We don’t.
Louis (to Jerry Seinfeld): I don’t think you’ve ever said it, probably, in your life.
Jerry Seinfeld: Oh, no. You found the humor of it. I haven’t found it, nor do I seek it.”

The internet wildly reacted with opposing views. A few of the comments read:
“@theNFLchick That comedian round table video is so cringeworthy. Chris Rock really just let CK and other dude say it with no consequence”
“DICKBYAIR what if Chris rock was trying to show you how racist people actually are ? y’all forgot Louis ck stand up was pure racism”
I swear the internet is dumb but lemme shutout before y’all come for me”
“@IamGMJohnson Chris Rock just proved himself to be the COONIEST COONER by allowing those white men to say n*gger in his presence and laugh.”
“@ChristopherV That video is from years ago. Now people wanna be mad at Chris Rock? lol Y’all stupid. None of those guys were saying anything they hadn’t said before. Stop the fake outrage.”

None of the racially inept comedians nor Jerry Seinfeld have commented on the recent controversy. Meanwhile, British Ricky Gervais seems to be more concerned with the appropriateness of animal abuse jokes.

How do you feel about the use of the n-word?
