R.Kelly’s Daughter Is Torn Over Accusations: He’s Still My Blood, I Love My Father
In a recent interview, both R.Kelly’s ex-wife, Andrea Kelly, and daughter, Joann Kelly speak out about the allegations of multiple counts of rape of young teen age women that the singer is being accused of. The singer’s daughter makes her first live interview addressing her father’s allegations. Joann says she is still dealing with the pain that her father maybe responsible for.
Alongside her mother, Andrea, who says there are two different sides to the 52-year-old singer, Andrea says,
“I don’t think people have a clear understanding that we are dealing with two different people here. There is R. Kelly the persona and then there is Robert the person.
She adds,
“Myself and my daughter are connected to Robert the person so its very personal him being my ex-husband and the father of my children. It’s difficult but it is needed. It’s saving lives, it’s changing lives, and we stand in the gap.”
As far as Kelly’s estrange 21-year-old daughter, she mentions that she had not seen or heard from her father in years. Joann says,
“Honestly, it’s been a few years since I’ve last seen or spoken to him. I don’t know exactly how long, but it’s been a while.”
She was asked how does she feel about her father as of now. She explains,
“I’m very torn, at the end of the day, it’s still family, he’s still my blood. So yes, I do still love my father and that’s something I want people to understand. I never came out and said what I said to make people feel like I hate him, or I’m bashing him because that’s not it.”
She continues,
“At the end of the day, you have to be responsible for your actions. If my father is a toxic person, then we will have to love him from a distance. There is no love lost, I just had to separate myself.”
As previously reported, authorities still have Kelly under investigation after the six-part Lifetime documentary aired. A new development took place last week, with a woman named Tracy Simpson, claiming Kelly tried to sexually harass her in the summer of 1999 when she was only 16-year-old intern at Epic Records.
Should R. Kelly’s family turn their back with all of the allegations he is facing? Let us know in the comments!
