“New York Undercover” Reboot – Some Original Characters Will Reprise Role, Anthony Hemingway To Executive Produce
The ‘94 crime drama “New York Undercover” has been ordered for a pilot from ABC for a potential reboot. According to reports, the pilot will pick up 20 years later and follow new detectives Nat Gilmore and Melissa Ortiz as they solve crimes to keep the city of New York safe from harm.
“New York Undercover” originally starred Malik Yoba as Detective J.C. Williams and Michael DeLorenzo as Detective Eddie Torres, Lauren Velez as Detective Nina Moreno, and Josh Hopkins as Detective Alec Stone.
Originally reported in December 2018, the original characters were not expected to return, but following new reports, a few original characters are expected to reprise their roles, but no word on exactly who. Dick Wolf, the man behind “Law & Order” franchise and the original “New York Undercover” will write and executive produce the reboot, along with Ben Watkins.
Anthony Hemingway is set to executive produce and direct the pilot. Universal Television and ABC Studios will produce in combination with Wolf Films. After earning a few Image Awards, the series ended in 1999 after four seasons.
