Alex Trebek Has Experienced Surges Of Deep Sadness W/ Chemo Treatment But Remains Optimistic: The Numbers Indicate That The Cancer Is Coming Down

Alex Trebek Discusses Highs & Lows of Cancer Diagnosis
Celebrated “Jeopardy” host Alex Trebek is optimistic about his fight with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. He talked with fellow cancer survivor, host Robin Roberts, today (5/1/19) on “Good Morning America.” He says that he’s received an outpouring of love since he revealed his health struggles:
“I’ve had so many contacts from people who have survived cancer for [several] years. I am now a 30-day cancer survivor…and they have been inspiration to me.”
He, first, announced his devastating diagnosis to fans and viewers on March 6th.
Despite his upbeat nature, Alex Trebek is being transparent about the ups and downs of battling cancer. He says that with grueling chemotherapy treatments come “surges of deep, deep sadness.” He encourages patients to acknowledge their own struggles:
“There’s nothing wrong with saying ‘Hey, I’m really depressed today and I have no idea why.'”
Overall, Alex expressed that he’s grateful for the progress the medical community is making with cancer research, and that chemo is working for him. He said:
“The numbers that indicate the cancer … are coming down. It is something I am inflicted with. We are dealing with it chemically and spiritually and those are positives. Hopefully everything is going to turn out well.”
The legendary game show host continued:
“Things have changed immensely over the years. Doctors keep coming up with new cures and pretty soon we’re going to wind up with the cure.”
