Jason Mitchell – MTV Strips His Movie & TV Award Nomination Amid Sexual Assault Accusations
The backlash against Jason Mitchell continues. The now former “The Chi” cast member can also add MTV to the growing list of networks parting ways with him amid allegations that sexually harassed women involved in the show, including the showrunner Ayanna Floyd and his on-screen girlfriend, played by Tiffany Boone.

MTV has snatched his MTV Movie & TV Award nomination for “Best Performance In A Show.” A rep for the network confirmed that it was because of Mitchell’s recent stint in the headlines.
“In light of recent developments, we have removed Jason Mitchell as a nominee.”
The network also decided not to replace him with a new nominee. The remaining contenders are Gina Rodriguez of “Jane The Virgin,” Elisabeth Moss of “The Handmaid’s Tale,” “Game of Thrones” star Emilia Clarke and Kiernan Shipka of “The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.” It was also noted that Mitchell was the only male nominated for the award considering MTV stopped giving out gender-specific categories in 2017.
Of course, the show will go on without Mitchell. It’s set to air on June 17.
Mitchell’s alleged incidents came to light less than a week after the nominations were announced. He has already been let go from the forthcoming season of “The Chi” and replaced by Lamorne Morris for upcoming Netflix comedy “Desperados.”
