Drake Lands 9th #1 On Billboard 200, Becomes 1st Solo Artist With Over 200 Appearances On Billboard Hot 100
It’s a good week to be Drake! He’s been making major moves and it doesn’t look like he’s slowing down.
This week alone, he landed his ninth #1 album thanks to Care Package. While it featured 17 songs that fans have already been familiar with like “Trust Issues” and “Girls Love Beyonce”, they were never featured as singles or on any previous albums. Before Care Package, fans could only hear them on Sound Cloud and YouTube.
The project peaked at #1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart. It garnered 109,000 equivalent album units and 16,000 in pure sales.
He now has the most #1s of the decade as his first #1 was released in 2010. He’s tied with the most #1s overall among the likes of Garth Brooks, Eminem, Madonna and Rolling Stones who also have nine.
This is also Drake’s first #1 under the OVO Sound label as his previous albums were released under Young Money/Cash Money/Republic.
And that’s not all. He’s now the first solo artist to make more than 200 appearances on Billboard’s Hot 100. He has a total of 203 after the release of Care Package songs “Trust Issues”, “How About Now”, “The Motion”, “Dreams Money Can Buy”, “Club Paradise” and “Days in the East.”
He has a total of 35 that made the top 10, just behind Madonna who has 38 top 10 singles.
Drake keeps making history with the most top 40 appearances with 99 records and six #1 singles.
In true Drake form, he celebrated with another tattoo. While he’s previously rapped, “got more slaps than The Beatles,” he got new ink that featured the iconic group’s Abbey Road album cover. The only difference is that he put himself in front.
Congrats to Drake on all of his success!
