Floyd Mayweather Was Paid $2 Million For 10 Second Promo Video For Pacquiao Rematch

Light weight champion, Floyd “Money” Mayweather took to Instagram to give more insight on a recently resurrected 10 second video that the boxer earned more than $2 million creating. This week, Mayweather shared a screenshot of a conversation detailing the video which was included in a negotiation for a “super fight,” rematch with Mayweather against Manny Pacquiao.

Mayweather claims that even with the earnings from his video, his epic rematch against Pacquiao will never happen.

“There is a video circulating that I made 8 months ago about a “MAYWEATHER – PACQUIAO” REMATCH. I got paid $2,200,000 to make the video. The truth is, the fight will never happen again. Now, swipe left and look at the money that got wired to me for the video. Now, who’s the smart one ? I’m making millions just for 10 second video drops.”

To back up that claim, he also included two bank transactions. One transaction sent over $1.2 million and a second transfer for $1 million even.

Mayweather defeated Pacquiao via unanimous decision in 2015 in their “Fight of the Century.” The event broke pay-per-view viewership records in the United States with 4.6 million buys and over $410 million in revenue, according to reports.

In an lengthy Instagram post, Mayweather lashed out at Pacquiao.

“I find it real ironic how every time Pacquiao’s name is brought up in the media, my name is always attached to it. This man’s entire legacy and career has been built off its association with my name and it’s about time you all stop using my brand for clout chasing and clickbait and let that man’s name hold weight of its own. For years, all you heard was that “Floyd is afraid of Manny Pacquiao”. But what’s funny is, when we finally fought, I won so easily that everyone had to eat their words!“

He added,

“All of the so called boxing experts, critics and jealous American ‘fan base’ either went mute and ran for cover or made every excuse in the world as to why I should give Manny Pacquiao a rematch. My take on all this bulls–t is that y’all are just upset that I broke Rocky Marciano’s record and hate the fact that a Black, high school dropout outsmarted you all by beating all odds and retiring undefeated while maintaining all my faculties simply by making smart choices and even smarter investments. Ultimately, I will always have the last laugh!”
