Kehlani’s Sophomore Album Is Coming Out On Her 25th Birthday, May 8

Surprise! In honor of her 25th birthday, singer Kehlani surprised fans with the title and cover art for her sophomore album, ‘It Was Good Until It Wasn’t.’ On Friday (April 24th), the 25-year-old “Everybody Business,” singer unveiled her quarantine style project arriving on the same day as her birthday, May 8.

The album artwork features Kehlani quarantining in the back yard standing atop of what appears to be a chair wearing a white tank and high cut denim shorts with a running hose as she peeks over a brick wall into her neighbor’s world.

Kehlani’s long-awaited album was originally due earlier this year, however, the singer put the project on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic. She explained on Twitter,

“I HAD a release date. We’re unable to complete any of our plans or move forward with the album at the moment due to the pandemic.”

The Bay Area native’s upcoming release follows her 2017 debut ‘SweetSexySavage.’ Yet to release the official tracklist for her sophomore album, Kehlani has continued to put out fresh, new singles including the Keyshia Cole-assisted “All Me,” “Valentine’s Day (Shameful),” “Toxic,”and her latest, “Everybody Business.”

With countless songs that discuss personal and deep emotions of her relationship issues, the singer said in March that her transparency can often be misunderstood.

“I almost wanna feel a way when people assume what/who the songs I release are about, but on the flip side, it means people trust and put faith in my transparency… expecting vulnerability & honesty from me everytime now.”

With the release of her pre-spring release, Kehlani has also made appearances with Megan Thee Stallion’s recent track, “Hit My Phone,” from Suga, and on Justin Bieber’s “Get Me” from Changes.
