Actress Debbi Morgan Tearfully Pleads For African-Americans To Be ‘Smart’ About Coronavirus: So Many Of Us Are Dying!
Actress Debbi Morgan tearfully took to her Instagram today to share her thoughts on COVID-19 and explained that although she was heading out to get essentials, she was reminded of those who could not provide for their families, particularly African-Americans.
Debbi Morgan, best known for her roles in the film Eve’s Bayou and the now-defunct soap opera “All My Children,” referenced how African-Americans survived slavery and reminded her viewers that “we cannot and will not be broken.”
She said in an emotional Instagram post,
“This is my first day [out] in about 12 days… I don’t know, for some reason I just feel overcome with such emotion. I just want all of us to get through this, to the other side, especially within our black communities. People are sick and dying, so many of us are dying. And we can’t put food on the table for our children. We can’t pay our rent, we can’t pay our mortgages.”
She continued,
“Our ancestors are strong people, and we got through slavery. We are still a strong people, we will get through this. But we gotta be smart and stay safe. Because we cannot and will not be broken.”

Her plea comes just days after California congresswoman Maxine Waters revealed her sister was deathly ill with the disease.
