Andre Harrell Tribute Announced: Uptown Record Artists “Soul For Real”, Monifah, Aaron Hall To Perform
Music veteran and Uptown Records founder Andre Harrell sadly passed away on May 7. It has now been announced that there will be a livestream tribute for the late record executive. The tribute is scheduled for May 17, and will be streamed on most social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube as well as the 24H website.

According to the announcement, there will be performances by former Uptown Records artists such as Monifah, Soul for Real, Aaron Hall, Father MC and other artists that have yet to be announced.
Due to Andre Harrell’s death, Babyface postponed his “Waiting to Exhale” mother’s day special and shared a tribute song.
The next day, Diddy, who was mentored by Andre Harrell, took to Instagram to pay homage to the late record executive. Diddy uploaded a video highlighting part of the speech he gave during a Pre-Grammys Gala for winning an Industry Icon award earlier this year. In the clip, he takes the time to show his appreciation to Andre Harrell for all he’s done for him throughout their mentorship.

Harrell’s son Gianni Harrell broke his silence on his father’s sudden passing as well. Gianni Harrell, took to Instagram to express how he has been doing since losing his father. In addition to the heartfelt message the 26-year-old shared serval photos with his dad from over the years:
“Dad, I miss you so much. I love you so much. I wish it didn’t have to be this way, but Destiny has a plan and I know you’ll never be too far away. You’re still my super hero, life coach, personal comedian, twin, yoga partner, wingman, and best friend.”
Within the statement he also showed love to Kim Porter, hoping that they would see each other up in heaven.

BET has announced that they’ve decided to move forward with the miniseries that will highlight Andre Harrell’s time at Uptown Records.BET president Scott Mills spoke on the miniseries and Andre Harrell’s passing in an official statement. Mills said:“We are mourning the loss of a cultural icon, Andre Harrell, a chief architect of the modern hip-hop and R&B sound. Andre was tremendously excited about sharing the origin story of Uptown Records, and its pivotal role in the urban music landscape. With his tragic passing, BET is committed to ensuring that the Uptown limited series event tells both the Uptown story and Andre’s story — that of the incredible music innovator, man and friend to so many.”
