Kendall Jenner Agrees To Pay $90K Amid Settlement Over Fyre Festival Instagram Post

Kendall Jenner‘s Instagram post about the infamous Fyre Festival ironically landed her in hot water with the law. Last fall, Kendall Jenner was sued by Attorney Gregory Messer in US Bankruptcy Court over her role in promoting the fraudulent Fyre Festival. He is fighting to help investors recover the money they poured into the Bahamas catastrophe.

The Ja Rule co-created festival was advertised to be a luxury event with several big name performers and luxe lodging. Ticket-holders ended up being stranded in outdoor tents and airports, demanding their money back – as documented in the Netflix documentary, “FYRE: The Greatest Party That Never Happened.”

Enter, Kendall Jenner. According to court documents, she, along with other influencers, was paid $250,000 to post an Instagram ad in January of 2017, promoting the festival. In her now-deleted post, she also announced her “G.O.O.D Music Family” would be making an appearance – leading fans to believe that her brother-in-law, Kanye West, would be performing. He nor any of the G.O.O.D. Music roster had been contracted as the “first headliners,” as Kendall stated. Lastly, the “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” star announced that ticket holders could buy entry to a star-studded afterparty:

“Use my promo code KJONFYRE for the next 24 hours to get on the list for the artists and talents afterparty on Fyre Cay.”

The court documents read:

“This conduct demonstrates a clear lack of good faith on Jenner’s part.”

In a settlement reached this week, Kendall Jenner agreed to pay $90,000 of that money back in efforts for investors to recoup their loan on the island disaster. Fyre Festival’s co-founder, Billy McFarland, was charged with two counts of wire fraud and sentenced to six years in federal prison. Ja Rule maintains that he, too, was misled.

Kendall Jenner has yet to publicly comment on the settlement.
