Solange Knowles Calls Out Kentucky Attorney General: When Will Breonna Taylor’s Murderers Be Arrested? It’s Been 3 Months!

Solange Knowles hopped on Twitter Thursday (June 18th) to direct a question to the Louisville Police Department.

Breonna Taylor was killed by Louisville police officers when they came into her apartment she shared with her boyfriend and fired 22 shots, with 8 of them hitting Breonna Taylor.

Solange Knowles first wrote a tweet on May 31, directed to the Louisville mayor and the Kentucky governor demanding answers on when they will be arresting and charging the officers involved in the murder of Breonna Taylor.

She wrote,

“Ayo @louisvillemayor @GovAndyBeshear When the f*ck are y’all going to arrest and charge Breonna Taylor’s murderers?!? Why are Sgt. Jonathan Mattingly, Brett Hankinson & Myles Cosgrove still roaming freely & still being payed while y’all try to protect the blood on y’all’s hands?”

Now, nearly a month later, she is now demanding answers from Kentucky’s Attorney General.

“It’s been 3 months @kyoag! When are the arrest happening?!? We know about the crooked cop contracts, and that this in YOUR HANDS! When will Breonna Taylors murderers be arrested and charged ?”

Solange Knowles has been very vocal on social media lately with trying to get the officers and persons involved in the deaths of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor arrested by pressuring government officials. Earlier this month, Solange directed a tweet to the mayor of Los Angeles after LAPD Police Chief said protesters were equally responsible for George Floyd’s death.

Although the police chief and Mayor Eric Garcetti apologized for the statements that were made, Solange demanded that the police chief be fired,

“Nah @MayorOfLA “clarify” this by firing his a** ! Black ppl don’t get the benefit of regret. Fire him!”

Solange’s sister Beyonce has also spoken out about the recent murders at the hands of law enforcement. Earlier this week, she wrote a letter demanding justice for Breonna Taylor. In the Grammy winner’s letter, Beyonce questions the actions of the officer.

“Three months have passed and the LMPD’s investigations have created more questions than answers. Their incident report states that Ms. Taylor suffered no injuries yet we know she was shot at least eight times. The LMPD officers claim they announced themselves before forcing their way into Ms. Taylor’s apartment but her boyfriend who was with her, as well as several neighbors, all say that this is untrue.” 

She continued,

“Three months have passed and zero arrests have been made, and no officers have been fired. The LMPD’s investigation was turned over to your office, and yet all of the officers involved in the shooting remain employed by the LMPD. Sgt. Jonathan Mattingly and Officers Myles Cosgrove and Brett Hankison must be held accountable for their actions.”

Beyoncé called for criminal charges against the officers, transparency in the investigation and and an examination into the “pervasive practices that result in the repeated deaths of unarmed Black citizens.”

“1.) Bring criminal charges against Jonathan Mattingly, Myles, Cosgrove, and Brett Hakison.

2.) Commit to transparency in the investigation and prosecution of these officers’ criminal conduct.

3.) Investigate the LMPD’s response to Breonna Taylor’s murder, as well the pervasive pretties that result in the repeated deaths of unarmed black citizens.”

At the end of the letter, Beyonce urged Attorney General Cameron to fully understand the depth of continuing a pattern of injustice.

“Don’t let this case fall into the pattern of no action after a terrible tragedy. With every death of a Black person at the hands of the police, there are two real tragedies: the death itself, and the inaction and delays that follow it. This is your chance to end that pattern. Take swift and decisive action in charging the officers. The next months cannot look like the last three.”
