In reaction, the network giant ViacomCBS – which houses the channels that syndicate his sketch comedy show, “Wild’N Out” – called his comments “anti-Semitism, racism, and bigotry.” The company’s statement pointed out that they took issue with Nick Cannon’s refusal to apologize:
“While we support ongoing education and dialogue in the fight against bigotry, we are deeply troubled that Nick has failed to acknowledge or apologize for perpetuating anti-Semitism, and we are terminating our relationship with him. We are committed to doing better in our response to incidents of anti-Semitism, racism, and bigotry. ViacomCBS will have further announcements on our efforts to combat hate of all kinds.”
In the meantime, Masika Kalysha, who previously starred in VH1’s “Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood” is defending Nick Cannon with strong claims of her own about Viacom. She tweeted:
“D*mn @NickCannon now u see what I was talkin about. Y’all know @ViacomCBS blackballed me from wild n out, Hollywood squares, love & listings & every show they could bc I refused to film degrading dumb a** fake sh*t made to tarnish my image & integrity. All they do is objectify Blk ppl…& make us look like the stereotype that’s been emplanted in our heads since childhood. Smfh they love a broken black home, an abortion, a dead beat dad, baby momma drama, a side b*tch scandal…they will create any & everything possible to make u look as ghetto as they possibly can 4 some chump change. My integrity wasn’t for sale. My boundaries were crossed time & time again. I made it abundantly clear that my child wasn’t going to be a storyline & anything that could negatively effect her would be off limits.”
Masika also alleged that during her five years on “Love and Hip-Hop: Hollywood,” she was urged to lie about her pregnancy and that the media giant allegedly attempted to have her income drastically decreased by keeping her off television.
She continued, defending Nick Cannon’s powerful comments on racism:
“…moral of the story @NickCannon aint said sh*t wrong. He said wtf he said how dare @ViacomCBS accuse him of bigotry & anti Semitism of all things! The actual audacity! All you do is exploit & oppress black people…4 ratings! Being on that d*mn show was torture. I was miserable & depressed. I hated goin to work…”
Masika Kalysha promised legal action against Viacom:
“To understand wtf Nick actually said & educate ur ignorant selves. Anytime a black person is educated or speaks up Viacom “no longer wishes to work with them” foh smh. I been real quiet about all the f*ck a** sh*t y’all did to me but u woke a sleeping giant…@ViacomCBS Be expecting an email from My attorney y’all hate so bad”
