Kanye West Denies Reports Jay-Z Sold His Masters So He Could Buy His Own: Jay Is My Brother!
Kanye West and Jay-Z might not be on the best of terms publicly, but Kanye West is coming to his defense amid reports that Jay-Z sold Kanye West’s masters so he could buy back his own.
According to reports, Jay-Z acquired ownership of Kanye West’s first six albums when buying the Roc-A-Fella imprint under Universal Music Group. Jay-Z is accused of later selling Kanye’s masters in an effort to gain back his own.
Kanye West has taken to Twitter to shut down that speculation. He wrote Friday (Sept. 18th):
“Don’t let the system pit us against each other … JAY IS MY BROTHER … I have eternal love for all artist that have been through and are still trapped this crooked system. Jay still doesn’t get his own masters back for ten years. I will see to it that we all get our masters”
This isn’t the first time he’s cleared the air concerning his relationship with Jay-Z and his wife Beyonce this week.
Producer Hit-Boy recently said that Kanye stopped selecting his beats because he worked with Beyonce amid Kanye’s rumored feud with her and Jay-Z. He wrote on Instagram:
“I haven’t been a fan of Kanye on a personal/human level since he told me face to face he stopped picking my beats because I worked with Beyoncé…”

Kanye also shared his thoughts on that and tweeted Wednesday (Sept. 16th):
“HI GUYS … TRUST ME WE WILL NOT STOP … HITBOY FIRST TO STAND UP … I DIDN’T HAVE A PROBLEM WITH HIM PRODUCING FOR BEYONCÉ … I HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE FACT HE WAS SIGNED TO ME AND I DIDN’T KNOW BUT I KNEW JAY AND BEYONCÉ AND HIT-BOY … JUST FOR CLARITY”
