Idris Elba Returns To Instagram, Thanks Fans For Support + Says He’s Currently Filming A Black Western
Actor Idris Elba returned to Instagram this week with a short video thanking fans for their support and wishing them well as the coronavirus pandemic wears on.
Back in July, Idris Elba had his own bout with COVID-19 after he and his wife tested positive for the illness. However, it does appear that the versatile actor has fully recovered and said in the clip that he simply needed to take some time away from social media to “focus” on other things. He captioned the video:
“Just saying hello really. i’ve been in a bubble of life and work, getting my mind and body sharp. I fell out of touch with social media for a while but it’s good reconnect with you. Hope you are well in your bubble. [heart Emoji] Always.”
In the one-minute video, Idris Elba revealed he was back on set working on a new film, a Black Western called The Harder They Fall. He also said that filming during the current pandemic was something like “filming during a Chemistry class:”
“What’s up people? Been a while since I caught up with you, man. If you notice I kind of, like, quit posting for a lil bit. Just had to get my head right and focus on some stuff. It’s good to be back at work. I’m out here makin’ a movie right now, a Black Western. It’s a real incredible experience actually. Really amazing crew and cast and we’re working through it, you know, even through COVID, it’s an experience. It’s a bit like filming during a Chemistry class, you know what I’m sayin’?”

He continued:
“Look man, I just wanted to touch base, say ‘yo.’ I hope you’re well. I hope you’re staying focused during this time, man…this madness. Look after yourself. And thank you so much for the support and the well-wishin’ and all that, you know what I’m sayin’? Big shout out to the new followers. I don’t even know why you follow me man. I don’t post much.

Idris has also been in the headlines after he tweeted on September 14 that his wife, Sabrina Dhowre, had not given birth to a child. While he thanked well-wishers for their celebratory messages, he said this supposed news was not true:
“Sab @Sabrinadhowre and i thank you for all the congratulations but we haven’t had a baby.. .. that’s not true Don’t believe everything you read. Stay safe.”
