Jeannie Mai Hospitalized With Throat Condition, Forced To Leave ‘DWTS’
The Real TV co-host Jeannie Mai,41, will not be returning to Dancing With The Stars on ABC amid a health issue that calls for immediate attention and even surgery, according to reports.
Jeannie Mai‘s journey on season 29 has come to an end, after doctors discovered an inflammatory condition in her throat called epiglottis. The condition causes swelling, and blocks air from getting to the lungs. She said in a statement on Good Morning America on Monday, Nov. 2:
“My doctors discovered a health concern with my throat which requires immediate attention and surgery, I am heartbroken that my DWTS journey has to end here.”
Adding,
“I have pushed myself to new limits physically and mentally, and I am so proud of how far we’ve come.”
Jeannie Mai‘s dance partner on the show, Brandon Armstrong also said in a video message on GMA:
“Guys, we are devastated by the news that we’re gonna have to cut this season short, but Jeannie’s health does come first. Thank you to all the fans that have helped get us this far and we are praying for a speedy recovery from Jeannie.”
“Dancing With The Stars” issued a statement on Twitter:
“Jeannie Mai will not be able to continue to compete on #DWTS this season due to a health concern that requires immediate attention. Jeannie has inspired us, along with millions of fans, with her energy and dedication. We wish her a full and speedy recovery.”
