Will Smith On Ending His Feud With Janet Hubert: My Actions Were Flawed & Hurtful
Like many Fresh Prince fans, Will Smith is still reeling from ending his decades-long feud with Janet Hubert on the sitcom’s reunion special earlier this week.
During their talk, Janet Hubert confronted Will Smith for suggesting she was “difficult” after she left the show following its third season. She also revealed that she was pregnant and suffering an abusive marriage in reality.
During an episode of Red Table Talk, Will Smith got emotional as he reflected on their conversation and previous issues.
“My father was violent in my house. So a part of the whole creation of Will Smith, the joking, fun, silly, was to make sure my father was entertained enough not to hurt my mother or anybody in the house.”
He also said, according to Entertainment Tonight:
“The little boy in me level, with Hubert, I needed Mommy to think I was great. And when I realized she didn’t, my dragon woke up.”
He continued and said:
“I’m not arrogant enough to think my actions and behavior were perfect. My actions and behavior were flawed and hurtful. Probably there’s nobody on Earth who’d say I hurt them that bad.”
